Privacy and Data Protection Policy for Gammel Estrup and the Danish Centre for Manor Research

In connection with the introduction of the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Gammel Estrup has updated its Privacy and Data Protection Policy.

The new rules came into force on 25 May 2018 and apply throughout the European Union (as well as the EEA countries). Everyone is automatically covered by these rules, and no action is required on your part.

Any information that can be linked to an identifiable individual is considered personal data. Such information may have been provided to the museum in connection with employment, volunteer work, professional networks, or collaboration. Information may also have been provided when registering for events or similar activities, or collected through visits to our websites.

Security

Gammel Estrup always processes personal data securely and in accordance with applicable legislation, whether the museum acts as the data controller (which is usually the case) or as a data processor.

Gammel Estrup ensures that it only uses data processors located within the EU who comply with the same data protection legislation as we do.

Within the organization, we maintain a high level of data security. We encrypt or anonymize information wherever possible, and paper records containing personal information are stored securely under lock and key in accordance with legal requirements.

Website

When you visit one of the websites of Gammel Estrup or the Danish Centre for Manor Research, Gammel Estrup collects data in order to compile statistics, optimize the websites, and target marketing activities.

Among other things, we process IP addresses, operating system and browser information, the date and time of your visit, and we place cookies on your device. To compile statistics and, where applicable, carry out remarketing, data is collected and shared with third parties such as Google.

Cookies

Gammel Estrup uses cookies for analytical purposes, and all collected information is anonymous. We collect information such as the number of visits, average visit duration, and how visitors navigate the websites.

Newsletters

You receive our newsletter because you have subscribed to it. We store only your first name and email address. We use Mailchimp to distribute newsletters. You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.

Events

When registering for an event, booking a guided tour, or similar activities, participants are registered with their name, address, and contact details. This information is stored for up to six months after the event and is then deleted.

Donations

When making a donation to the museum, donors provide their name and address, as well as their Danish CPR (Civil Registration) number if they wish to claim a tax deduction. The museum uses the CPR number solely to report the donation to the Danish Tax Agency so that the donor can receive the relevant tax deduction.

The data is retained for up to five years in accordance with the Danish Bookkeeping Act.

Business Partners and Commercial Transactions

When ordering goods or services from Gammel Estrup, we create a customer profile containing the information necessary for delivery and invoicing.

Similarly, when Gammel Estrup purchases goods or services from business partners, we create a profile containing the partner's name, address, contact details, and bank account information for payment purposes.

This information is retained for up to five years in accordance with the Danish Bookkeeping Act.

Job Applications

If you apply for a position at Gammel Estrup, we process the personal information provided in your application, as well as any references that you have consented to us contacting.

All job applications are retained for three months before being deleted.
