The Castle and Manor Forum

The purpose of the Danish network, Slots- og Herregårdsforum (The Castle and Manor Forum), is to gather professional communicators and researchers across disciplines, thereby creating an active, nationwide forum for the exchange of methods and results in research and communication — and to discuss issues related to Danish castle and manor culture.

The goal is to further develop the field of Danish castle and manor culture and to create new partnerships through collaboration between architects, historians, ethnologists, conservators, museum and university staff.

The subjects are Danish castles, manors, and palaces, and the guiding principle for the network is sharing of knowledge and ideas as well as constructive discussions.

The Castle and Manor Forum is a further development of Herregårdspuljen (the Manor Group) which was established in 2002. Gammel Estrup – The Danish Manor & Estate Museum and The Danish Research Centre for Manorial Studies holds the secretariat for the network.

The forum is involved in coordinating, promoting, and developing collaboration in the field of manor history.

At least one seminar is held annually where network members meet to discuss selected topics, and where members keep each other updated on developments in the field.
